Microneedling and PRP Microneedling in Yorkville, Toronto

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, which triggers your body’s natural healing response. The result is more collagen and elastin, and smoother, firmer, more even skin over time.

At Vbeauty Medical Spa, we offer two versions: standard microneedling and PRP microneedling, our primary service. PRP microneedling adds platelet-rich plasma from your own blood to the treatment for stronger results. You may also know it as the vampire facial, the name that made it famous. It is the same treatment.

What is PRP microneedling?

PRP microneedling is our featured service and the version most patients request. It combines microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), made from a small sample of your own blood and applied during the session. The PRP travels deep into the skin through the micro-channels, where it boosts healing and speeds up collagen regeneration.

PRP is rich in growth factors that stimulate stem cells, increase collagen, and support tissue repair. Because it comes from your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.

PRP microneedling works well for:

  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Overall texture and radiance

When will I see results from PRP microneedling?

Improvement begins within 1 to 2 weeks. Best results develop over 1 to 3 months as new collagen matures. We recommend 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

What is standard microneedling?

Standard microneedling, without PRP, addresses skin texture, fine lines, and overall tone. It suits patients who prefer not to have blood drawn, and it works well as a maintenance treatment between PRP sessions.

Beyond PRP: other microneedling treatments

Microneedling does not have to be done with PRP alone. We recommend rotating your treatments, because different formulas support the skin in different ways. Each one can be paired with microneedling, and we choose based on your skin and goals.

  • PRP microneedling: growth factors from your own blood to support healing and collagen
  • Polynucleotides (PN) with microneedling: to support skin repair, hydration, and quality
  • Exosomes with microneedling: to support recovery and skin renewal
  • GHK-Cu copper peptide with microneedling: to support collagen and a firmer, smoother look

Rotating between these keeps your plan varied and tailored over a full series. At your free consultation, we will recommend the order that suits you best.

Platelet-rich plasma is a concentrated component of your own blood. Its platelets release growth factors that help tissue regenerate, stimulate new cell growth, and calm inflammation. When PRP is applied during microneedling, those growth factors reach the skin at depth and amplify the natural collagen response. The treatment improves tone, colour, and texture from within.

Before your treatment, you’ll meet with me for a free consultation. I’ll get to know you and your medical history to determine if PRP microneedling is the right option for you. We’ll discuss the area(s) you wish to have treated and answer any questions you may have.

It’s important to stay hydrated in the days leading up to your treatment as it will boost your plasma levels and make it easier to draw blood. If you are taking anticoagulants, like Aspirin or Warfarin, you should stop taking them for a week before your treatment.

A session takes 45 to 60 minutes from start to finish.

We begin by drawing about 10 ml of blood and placing it in a centrifuge, which separates the platelets from the red blood cells. While your PRP is prepared, numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. We then perform the microneedling, apply your PRP, and work it into the micro-channels. Cooling is used throughout to keep you comfortable.

Expect redness and minor swelling or bruising for a few days. Most patients allow about a week for full recovery, so keep that in mind if you have a special event coming up.

After your session:

  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water or a mild cleanser to remove any dried residue
  • Avoid sunscreen, makeup, and heavy moisturizers for 2 to 3 days
  • Avoid alcohol-based toners and cleansers for 10 to 14 days
  • Stay out of direct sun for at least 10 days

Acetaminophen and a gentle cold compress are fine if you are uncomfortable. Sleeping on your back with your head slightly elevated helps reduce swelling.
