EzGel and NaturaGel for Under-Eye Circles: Revolutionary or Risky?

Dark circles under the eyes are one of the most noticeable signs of aging, along with wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. They develop as the skin below the eyes starts to become looser and thinner, which causes the blood vessels to appear more prominent. These circles are a common cosmetic issue affecting different age groups, but there are various ways to make them less visible.

While invasive surgery (blepharoplasty) is a well-known option, there are simpler, safer, and more convenient alternatives — including EZ Gel and NaturaGel.

Both treatments use innovative techniques that draw on the body’s innate healing capabilities to combat dark, sagging circles under the eyes. But while numerous patients have experienced positive results, such innovation can also inspire people to express concern about the possible risks.

With this in mind, I’ll explore EZ Gel and NaturaGel in detail below. This post will explain how both treatments work, how they address under-eye circles, and the potential risks you need to consider before trying either option.

What is EZ Gel?

EZ Gel is a filler injected into one or more areas of the face to boost the appearance and texture of skin. This gel is created through a process similar to the beginning of a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, though it separates platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) instead. If you want to know more about this area, I have explored the differences between PRF and PRP in a previous blog post.

The platelet-rich fibrin is combined with albumin, a protein that helps stop leakage from blood vessels, to form the PRF gel. The platelets, white blood cells, and growth factors within the gel stimulate natural production of collagen and elastin.

Collagen and elastin play a major role in the look and texture of skin. Collagen is the protein that supports skin, helps it stay strong, and maintains its volume. Elastin, on the other hand, provides skin with its elasticity and lets tissues shrink back to their proper shape after being stretched.

However, collagen and elastin production decrease as the body grows older. That’s why skin becomes thinner, saggier, and duller with age. It also contributes to the dark circles that commonly form under the eyes and become more pronounced over the years.

However, boosting collagen and elastin production can restore plumpness, make skin thicker and firmer, and reduce dark circles.

What is NaturaGel?

NaturaGel is a Health Canada Licensed injectable created by Estar Medical (recognized as an innovator in PRP). NaturaGel is available in two sizes, which allows treatment providers to customize injections to suit different patient needs. It also enables them to inject NaturaGel into multiple areas with just one blood sample.

NaturaGel employs a revolutionary process to extend the release of growth factors that regenerate tissue. Platelet-poor plasma is drawn from a blood sample then heated for around 10 minutes at 100 degrees Celsius to prepare it for the next stage.

Platelet-rich plasma is also taken from the original blood sample. When the platelet-poor plasma has cooled after being heated, it’s mixed with the PRP gently to create a volumized gel.

Injecting this gel into target areas (in this case, under the eyes) enables PRP factors to be delivered over a longer period. As a result, volume is restored and tissue regenerates in a balanced way. The body fully absorbs NaturaGel, and no residue is left behind once the product runs its full course.

Why Might People Be Concerned About EZ Gel and NaturaGel?

EZ Gel and NaturaGel have been discussed at length online. While both have earned praise for their ability to treat dark circles under the eyes and help patients achieve a more youthful appearance, people may feel concerned about the potential risks. That’s a natural issue with any innovative treatments.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. Some are more potentially dangerous than others, depending on the techniques, tools, and products used. It’s always important to know what to expect before agreeing to a treatment.

Any reputable and ethical treatment provider will discuss the possible risks and side effects with you beforehand. This is vital to ensure that you have the details you need to make an informed decision about your treatment.

Both EZ Gel and NaturaGel may trigger certain side effects (see below). However, they’re generally safe when performed in a clinical environment by a trained, experienced expert. I’ll discuss the process with you during your free consultation, and I’ll answer any questions you may have to set your mind at ease.

What are the Risks of EZ Gel and NaturaGel?

The most important point to address when discussing EZ Gel and NaturaGel’s risks is that both use the patient’s own blood. They avoid artificial materials and ingredients, unlike numerous other treatments, and trigger the body’s natural processes to rejuvenate the skin from within.

That reduces the likelihood of allergic reactions and makes both treatments safer than others that use synthetic substances. However, there are still potential side effects to consider. These include:

  • Bruising at injection sites
  • Infection at injection sites
  • Blood vessel injury
  • Discomfort
  • Inflammation

Any side effects that occur should be temporary and clear up after a short period (even just a day or two). If you experience any discomfort or undesirable effects, feel free to contact VBeauty Spa to discuss them with me.

Treating Under-Eye Circles for Lasting Results

Dark, sagging circles form under the eyes as the body ages, due to a drop in collagen and elastin production. Along with wrinkles, sagging skin, fine lines, and liver spots, under-eye circles are common signs of aging — but EZ Gel and NaturaGel can help.

These treatments may stimulate the body’s collagen and elastin production process to create smoother, firmer, lighter skin. Over time, treatments can help you enjoy a more youthful appearance and glow.

At VBeauty Spa, I offer EZ Gel and NaturaGel treatments with dedicated patient care. We can schedule a free consultation to assess your needs, discuss your goals, and explore whether this is the ideal treatment for you.
