PRP Hair Restoration
Besides a desire to acquire radiant and youthful skin, the other most common concern amongst patients is the distressing issue of hair loss. Your hair can be a defining personal feature and it’s understandable that any change in this way can be very alarming and upsetting. Fortunately, there are aesthetic medical solutions available that can help you to regain your sense of confidence and individuality. At VBeauty Spa, I offer the transformational PRP Hair Restoration procedure to help clients with this specific issue.
PRP Hair Restoration is a natural, medically and scientifically backed treatment option for those struggling with hair loss. While surgery or drugs used to be the only option, PRP Hair Restoration is an increasingly popular hair loss treatment. It is far less invasive and time-consuming than surgery, as well as allowing clients to avoid any unwanted side effects from prescribed drug treatments.
PRP is most effective on those with hereditary hair thinning. It may also treat women with hair loss caused by tight hairstyles. The best candidates for PRP Hair Restoration are those who have just started losing their hair. PRP Hair Restoration does require functioning hair follicles, so the treatment will not work if you are already completely bald.
If you are concerned about hair loss and believe that you might be a candidate for PRP Hair Restoration, Toronto area residents can book in for a free consultation at your convenience. I will be able to assess your specific circumstances and talk you through the available options that would work best for you.
We also offer our services to residents of Mississauga, Etobicoke, Brampton, Scarborough and other areas in and near the GTA!
PRP Hair Restoration is a relatively simple process that harnesses your body’s own hair growth mechanisms. When you suffer from hair loss, your hair follicles start to shrink in a process called “miniaturization.” The follicles produce less hair with each growth cycle and eventually disappear completely. Additionally, your hair growth cycle gets shorter and functioning hair follicles spend more time in a resting phase where they don’t produce new hair. As a result, your hair loss situation can worsen over time as your body stops producing the amount of hair that you’re accustomed to having.
This is where PRP Hair Restoration steps in to try and rectify the problem. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a protein derived from whole blood. Platelets release healing proteins called “growth factors” that help wounds heal and tissues regenerate, enable cell growth and reduce inflammation. Studies show the healing growth factors in PRP increase blood supply to the hair follicle, stimulate stem cell growth and force the hair follicle into an active growth phase. This jump-starts dormant hair and causes it to start growing again. PRP can also help the follicle return to its normal size, encouraging thicker, longer regrowth.
In a sense, PRP acts to try and halt or reverse the damage caused by hair loss by using one of your body’s own natural products to stimulate growth and gradually reinvigorate your hair. If you have any detailed questions about the procedure, I can also explain these in greater detail at a personal appointment. With a free consultation for a PRP injection, Toronto, GTA and nearby residents can tackle any hair loss concerns they may have. Moreover, they can discover how this transformative procedure can benefit their lives and boost their self-confidence.
Although PRP Hair Restoration is a gradual process that requires time for your body to adapt and adjust, it also often offers immediate visible results that can be very encouraging and motivating. In fact, most patients notice less shedding immediately after treatment. About 2 weeks after treatment, you may notice thicker hair as well as new hair growth in the treated area(s). Measurable results will take a bit longer – about 3 to 6 months from your initial treatment. Just as your hair loss wasn’t an overnight phenomenon, the restoration process also takes a few months for the improved growth to set in.
PRP Hair Restoration will not regrow a full head of hair — however, you can expect a definite improvement in fullness and the process will prevent you from losing any more hair!
For optimal results, we recommend having three treatments 4–6 weeks apart and maintenance treatments every 4-6 months. This ensures that you give your hair the best chance to maximize its regrowth and maintain the benefits that are afforded by the procedure.
Before your treatment begins, you’ll meet with me for a free consultation. During this appointment, I’ll get to know you and your medical history to determine if PRP Hair Restoration is the right option for you. As PRP Hair Restoration works best on certain types of hair loss, it’s imperative that we ensure that the procedure we select for you is appropriate and that we provide the best chance of great results.
If PRP Hair Restoration is right for you, we’ll then discuss the area(s) you wish to have treated and answer any questions you may have. I want you to feel reassured and relaxed during your procedure, so I welcome all queries in advance so that you feel prepared, informed and at ease on the day.
It’s important to stay hydrated in the days leading up to your treatment, as it will boost your plasma levels and make it easier to draw blood. By drinking enough water in advance, you can help your procedure run more smoothly and maximize your chances of gaining the best results possible.
PRP Hair Restoration is a relatively quick procedure that typically takes less than an hour. Firstly, I will draw approximately 10 ml of your blood into a vacuum tube containing a gel and anticoagulants. Your blood is placed in a centrifuge, which separates the red blood cells, plasma and platelets. I will then remove the platelets located at the bottom of the plasma phase.
Once treatment begins, 100% PRP (from your own blood) is injected into the upper layer of your scalp (wherever your hair loss occurs). Ice (or cooling jets) are used to alleviate any discomfort you may have during the procedure. I will offer you a local anesthetic if you’re concerned about pain, but most patients just feel pressure during treatment. It is this aspect of PRP Hair Restoration that appeals to many clients as the process is a seamless one that minimizes any serious concern about pain.
Unlike other hair loss procedures, there’s zero downtime after treatment. It’s one of the biggest benefits of PRP hair restoration and contributes to its popularity as a hair loss solution. However, to avoid infection or further irritation of your scalp, you should take the following precautions after your treatment:
- Don’t wash your hair for 24 hours after treatment
- No swimming for 48 hours after treatment
- No exercise or excessive sweating for 48 hours after treatment
- No dry shampoo, gel, sprays or any hair products for 24 hours after treatment.
If you have any specific aftercare concerns or questions, you can always contact me at the VBeauty Spa and I’ll be able to address them with you directly. PRP Hair Restoration is a revolutionary procedure that brings many great benefits to clients and I’m delighted to provide it here in Toronto.
