Lumecca IPL in Toronto
Lumecca is an IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment that targets redness and hyperpigmentation, and improves the overall texture of your skin—it even stimulates collagen production. The most effective laser treatment on the market, Lumecca, only requires 1-2 sessions to achieve incredible results. Unlike traditional photofacials, Lumecca is safe for all skin tones.
Lumecca Laser Treatment for Face
While Lumecca is safe to use anywhere on the body, it’s most commonly used to treat unwanted pigmentation and vascular lesions on the face. Lumecca can reduce the appearance of: rosacea, broken capillaries, spider veins, sun spots, sun damage, age spots, freckles, melasma and more. Most patients see a significant improvement after just 1 treatment.
Other treatment areas include: neck, chest, shoulders, arms, hands, and legs.
The Lumecca IPL laser treatment uses wavelengths of light that target red and brown pigmentation. The light heats the pigmented tissue and destroys it. Because the laser only targets red and brown, it doesn’t damage or affect the surrounding tissue.
Lumecca safely delivers up to 3 times the energy of other laser pigmentation treatments, making the most powerful and effective photofacial on the market.
You’ll see a significant reduction in brown spots and redness within a few days of your first treatment, with full results after 2 weeks.
While many people see a huge improvement after just 1 treatment, we recommend 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.
Depending on the size and number of areas you’re having treated, your treatment will take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. As everyone’s skin type, and goals are different, I always take my time to tailor my approach to your specific needs and vision.
To begin, we’ll review the treatment areas we discussed in our consultation. I’ll apply ultrasound gel to the treatment area(s) and offer you protective goggles. Then, I’ll adjust the Lumecca device to ensure it’s at the ideal frequency for your skin tone. The device will deliver short pulses of light to the treatment area. Most people describe the sensation as having an elastic band lightly snapped against your skin. After the treatment is complete, I’ll apply cold to your skin to minimize the after effects. Your skin will be sensitive and feel slightly “sunburned” for a short period after treatment.
If you have any questions about the procedure, you can contact our Yorkville office before or afterward. Our free consultation service also gives you the opportunity to address any concerns before you book your first appointment.
The downtime after Lumecca is minimal. Your skin will feel warm and slightly sunburned, but this will subside a few hours after treatment. Some people experience very slight swelling or bruising. Brown pigmentation often gets darker for a few days after treatment until it flakes off or is absorbed by the body.
After your Lumecca treatment, any skin care you use should be extra-gentle. SPF is an absolute must, but avoid chemical sunscreen until the skin is fully healed.
You should also avoid:
- Active skin care like retinol, acids, or vitamin C for 48 hours
- Makeup for 24 hours
- Vigorous exercise and swimming for 24 hours
- Cosmetic treatments like peels or lasers for at least 24 hours
- Direct sun and tanning beds for a few weeks
If you’re uncomfortable after your treatment, you can take Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen and gently apply a cold compress. It’s important to treat your skin with care to ensure the best results and a quick recovery.
Lumecca treatment starts at $350. The cost of treatment depends on the size and number of treatment areas. We offer discounted pricing for a 3-treatment package. Please contact us for further pricing information.
